PDF to Text

PDF to Text pulls the selectable text out of your PDF, page by page, so you can copy or save it as plain text. Select several PDFs to extract the whole set in one pass — each becomes its own .txt file, downloadable together as a .zip. It runs locally in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Only PDFs with real (selectable) text. For scanned image PDFs, use the Image to Text (OCR) tool instead.

Can I extract text from many PDFs at once?

Yes. Select multiple PDFs and each one becomes its own .txt file, processed one at a time. Download them individually or as a single .zip.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No — extraction runs in your browser with PDF.js; nothing is sent to a server.

Does it keep formatting?

It extracts the raw text content; complex layout and styling are not preserved.
